Andrea MacNeill - President    

Andrea is a busy professional and mother of two, who brings great perspective both as a parent of youth in our programs and as a local business woman who understands connecting and fundraising in Charlottetown. Andrea has two children who are veterans of the Boys and Girls Club and all its programs.  Her career recently changed focus from the tourism/hospitality industry to become the Labour Market Facilitator (Employment Developer) with Ready, Willing and Able – a national project with the Canadian Association for Community Living and Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorders Alliance.  Her office is with the PEI Association for Community Living.  She became involved with the Boys and Girls Club and the Board of Directors because it involves her children and also has a direct impact on children and youth in the community. Andrea is passionate about the quality programming and staff here and believes the club plays a critical role in shaping the youth in our community.  She is actively involved in Parkdale Elementary Home and School Association, PEI Business Women’s Association and 100 Women Who Care of PEI.

Andrea has served as Secretary/Treasurer in 2012-2013 and now as Board President.

Bernie Connolly - Past President

Bernie Connolly lives in Charlottetown (Sherwood) with his wife Claire. They have four children and ten grandchildren. He grew up in Charlottetown, graduating from St. Dunstans Univ. with a B. Sc. in 1960 and a B. Ed. in 1969. He taught for 35 years in  various Island schools and in Quebec, including six years as vice-principal of Colonel Gray High School and 13 years as principal of Charlottetown Rural high School.

Bernie also served in the Canadian Army Reserve for 32 years earning the Canadian Forces Decoratio (with two Bars) and awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal (1977). Took training in Chilliwack, B.C., Kingston, Ont., and Camp Gagetown, N.B. He served with the 5 Signals Regiment, P.E.I. Regiment and P.E.I. Militia until retirement in 1983 With the rank of Colonel. During that time he served as Commanding Officer of the P.E.I. Regiment for five years and as P.E.I. Militia District Commander for 6 years.

During his career Bernie has worked with youth through his teaching profession and career in the military. These include Army Cadets in schools, Cadet training in Aldershot, N.S., Student Militia Programs, and a volunteer in National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1989 and 2001 (Manager of Transportation) on  the Island.

Over the years Bernie has worked and volunteered with numerous groups and organizations. He has served on the Boys and Girls Club, Charlottetown for the past ten years, serving as president from 2010 to 2012.

Melissa Bruce - Member at Large

Melissa joined the board in 2014. As a past bookkeeper of the Club, she has always admired the great work done at the Charlottetown Boys & Girls Club. She is married and has a teenage stepdaughter. Melissa works full-time at the University of Prince Edward and is completing her undergrad degree in Sociology on a part-time basis. She is excited to join the Board of Directors and to commit her time to continuing the team effort of dedication and supports for children and youth. She is impressed with the passion the Staff and the Board have for the Club and wanted to be a part of it!

Lewie Creed - Rotary Charlottetown Royalty Representative & Member at Large

Lewie became involved with the Boys and Girls Club through the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty when he co-chaired a committee which recommended a four year funding project in support of the “Club” which supports  challenged youth at the B&G Club. Lewie had a 35 year career with the Province of P.E.I. and retired as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy and has operated L Creed Consulting for the past 10 years. He has four grown children and seven grandchildren and has been a supporter of youth in the community through coaching minor hockey and baseball, Rotary Youth Exchange and involvement in Canada Games. Lewie believes strongly in the work of Boys and Girls Club and is proud to work to support the continued and expanded role of the B&G Club in the community

Jonah Clements - Member at Large

Jonah is a lawyer in the Charlottetown office of Stewart McKelvey. He practices in the areas of labour, employment and human rights law, as well as family law. This gives him unique insight into the lives of children during times which may cause great stress and difficulties within their households. Jonah obtained his Juris Doctor (Laws) at Dalhousie University in 2012, and an undergraduate degree in International Business (Finance) from Carleton University in 2009. He has lived, worked and studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Chicago, USA, and  Hamburg Germany. Jonah is also a board member for the Prince Edward Island Association for Community Living, and among other things, sits on the Canadian Association for Community Living Strategic Litigation Sub-Committee, which is responsible for overseeing litigation efforts related to the rights of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Adam Ross- Member at Large

Adam is a former youth of the Montague area and now resides in Stratford.  Adam has a passion for community development and is an advocate for youth programming.  Adam believes that the Boys & Girls Club plays an important role in communities through providing quality programming and role modeling values that will show children & youth how to be contributing members of a community.  Adam presently works for the CARI Complex as the Director of Aquatics & Programming and with the Department of Economic Development & Tourism as the Provincial Lifeguard Coordinator.  Adam completed a Diploma in Sport & Leisure Management at Holland College, an undergraduate degree in Business, and most recently a Masters in Business Administration from UPEI.  Adam is actively involved with Recreation PEI, the Lifesaving Society PEI Branch, and is a member of the Accountability & Engagement Committee with the Town of Stratford.
